We’re a structural engineering consultancy based in Chelmsford, Essex. We work with architects, developers, contractors and homeowners on projects ranging from domestic extensions to large-scale mixed-use developments – across Essex, London and the wider UK.
We believe in structural engineering that gets built, not just designed. Our goal is to keep it standing. Keep it buildable. Keep it on budget.
How We Work
Most structural engineers get called in once the big decisions have already been made. This happens to us, too. But we’d rather be in the room earlier than that.
Early involvement lets us shape projects for the better – identifying structural implications before they become costly surprises, aligning engineering with budget and programme from the outset, and ensuring the design is genuinely buildable before it even goes to planning, or reaches the contractor.
That’s not just good practice. It’s how we’ve always worked, and it’s what our clients come back for.

SCB Structures was founded on the conviction that structural engineering should be commercially useful, not just technically correct, and that every structure is designed with efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and long-term performance in mind.
This commercial grounding comes from previous experience working with national housebuilders, and it now shapes everything we do. Whether the project is a single-storey kitchen extension or a multi-storey residential development.
