When something looks wrong with a building, the first question is usually whether it matters. The second is what to do about it. A structural assessment answers both – but only if it’s written clearly enough to act on.
SCB Structures carries out detailed structural assessments, surveys and investigations for residential and commercial properties across Essex, London and beyond. We work to timescales that suit the situation, and our reports are written for the people who need to use them: lenders, insurers, loss adjusters and contractors, as well as the property owners themselves.

What we assess
We cover the full range of structural concerns: cracking, movement and subsidence; foundation settlement or heave; sagging beams, deflecting floors or roof spread; structural deterioration from damp or water ingress; poor workmanship or unauthorised alterations; load capacity for proposed changes; and non-standard or historic construction.
The output is matched to what the situation actually requires. Sometimes it’s a concise letter for a mortgage lender. Sometimes it’s a full report with calculations, remedial design and a method statement a contractor can price from. We don’t add complexity that isn’t needed, and we don’t strip out detail that is.

We communicate clearly throughout, keep clients informed as the picture develops, and produce remedial recommendations that are buildable rather than theoretical.
Where a situation involves insurers or loss adjusters, we’re experienced in producing the compliant documentation they require without the back-and-forth that slows claims down.
